Born in Mississippi and based in Memphis, he made his first recording at the age of 11, and at the age of 17, he had his first hit song "Scratchy", which made him a garage/instro lover in his early years. Since he started working with FAME STUDIOS in Muscle Shoals in the 60's, TRAVIS WAMMACK has been a favorite of swamp rock lovers in the South.
