Description:
The recorder is a simple but profound instrument. It has been a part of Western music for over 700 years. Modern and contemporary British composers have been fascinated by the instrument's remote sound and have written many works on it. This album contains pieces by three generations of composers. The album features compositions by three generations of composers, and you will be able to enjoy the exquisite differences in their styles. Gordon Jacob was born in the last century, but began writing music for the recorder in the 1950s, leaving behind many masterpieces. Arnold followed Jacobs' example and wrote a wonderful recorder concerto. This concerto was premiered by Mikala Petri, but has not been performed very often since then. This recording may be a chance to re-evaluate the work of Harvey, who is the youngest(?) of the three. Harvey's work, also written for Mikala Petri, is based on the theme of "magic. The flexible music is very attractive and will surely find favor with the Harry Potter generation. Naxos Japan
